Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

On Friday November 13, Tim Hudak, leader of the official opposition, and I were pleased to tour the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. The Royal is an opportunity for farmers to show off some of the best in agriculture that we have to offer in Ontario – from the horse shows and livestock to giant vegetables and innovation in agriculture.

Tim Hudak and I appreciated the opportunity to speak to farmers from across Ontario and hear their concerns.

I want to particularly recognize the Soy bean and grain farmers who this year erected the Soy house to demonstrate the hundreds of products which are now being produced from Soy beans. It is this type of innovation and partnerships with business that we need strengthen and grow our agricultural industry in Ontario.

As they say at the Royal this is an opportunity for city to meet the country – it is a chance for people of Toronto to see where their food comes from and say thank you to the farmers we depend on.

I want to commend the organizers of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair on another great year. I especially want to thank Bill Duron and Bob Jadavji  for taking the time to meet with us.

I know that having the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall officially open the fair made it a special year but as always it is the participants who make The Royal great. So on behalf of Tim Hudak and the PC Caucus I want to recognize and thank all farmers who participated in the fair and made it a success again this year.
