For Immediate Release June 30, 2005 Toyota Announces They Are Coming To WoodstockQueen’s Park – Ernie Hardeman MPP for Oxford and Agriculture critic for the Official opposition was pleased to participate in Toyota’s announcement today that confirms they will be building an auto assembly plant in Woodstock. “This is great news for Woodstock and the surrounding area,” commented Ernie Hardeman. “Toyota’s news that they will be building an $800 million Woodstock auto assembly plant that will create over 1,300 jobs is certainly going to be a boost for not only the local economy but the province of Ontario as a whole.” The plant, which will be the company’s second assembly plant in Canada is also expected to trigger several thousand more jobs in the service sector and it is being reported that there are at least nine Japanese parts makers as well as Magna International Inc. that are contemplating new parts operations in the area. “There have been reports of Toyota looking to take away the No. 1 worldwide automaker spot from General Motors,” stated Hardeman. “I can’t think of a better location that Woodstock for Toyota to make this happen.” -30- Contact: Ernie Hardeman MPP Oxford P.C.
