Question – Wednesday, March 23, 2006 – Woodstock Hospital

Mr. Speaker my question is to the Premier.
Premier, I want to remind you that you stated after the federal election that it would be in the best interest of the new prime minister to protect programs that the province of Ontario and the Martin Liberals had agreed to implement.

Well, the people of Woodstock have been waiting for over two and a half years for the McGuinty Liberals to honour the contract approved by the previous provincial government.

…A promise to fund a new hospital in Woodstock.

I ask you Premier can the people of Woodstock be assured that in today’s budget there is going to be funding designated to Woodstock Hospital so they can go to tender?

Premier -- The people of Oxford don’t understand how the hospital could be so close and then stall like it has. They have to believe that the only reason they haven’t received the promised funding is because of the way they voted.

Since it is rumoured that the government is awash in cash and going on a mad spending spree, the people of Woodstock would be hard pressed to understand why one more time they are being ignored.

It’s obvious that a lack of money isn’t the issue.

I ask you Premier –When will your government flow the promised money so Woodstock can build its hospital?
