Oxford Municipalities Receive Funding for Roads and Bridges
 
QUEEN’S PARK – Today Ernie Hardeman, MPP for Oxford, announced the funding allocations that Oxford municipalities will receive from the Ontario government for roads and bridges infrastructure.

“I’m pleased that our municipalities will be receiving funding to help them invest in their roads and bridges,” said Hardeman. “In Oxford, we know that location is one of our economic strengths – this funding will keep things moving and ensure our roads are well-maintained and safe for everyone who uses them.”

The allocations for the County of Oxford and local municipalities are:

“While I am pleased that Oxford municipalities will benefit from this investment, we need to continue to work towards better ways to fund municipal infrastructure funding to ensure that all municipalities are better able to plan for their long-term infrastructure needs,” said Hardeman.

The funding for roads and bridges was announced as part of the 2008 Provincial Budget. Funding calculations take into account the municipalities’ share of the Ontario road network in relation to population.

“I know that our municipalities are constantly faced with difficult choices and the need to prioritize. I am pleased that this funding will help ensure that they can build and maintain Oxford’s roads and bridges,” added Hardeman.
