History of Washington Ontario Published
Thanks to $11,500 OTF Grant

Washington, ON– The Plattsville & District Heritage Society celebrated at the launch of Once Upon A Time in Washington by Jennifer Harvey today, thanks to a $11,500 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).  Ernie Hardeman, MPP for Oxford, joined OTF representative Brian George in congratulating the Society for the release of their second publication.

“I want to congratulate the Plattsville and District Heritage Society on the work they have done to research and tell the history of this area, through both of their books and community events,” said Hardeman. “It is through their efforts that we will ensure that everyone remembers the important history of the people who founded our communities.”

The OTF grant was used to publish the Society’s second book, Once Upon A Time in Washington written by one of its members, Jennifer Harvey.  “It’s our local history chronicled from 1800 to today and comprises the history of Washington as well as a history of the homes and families,” said Denise Tew, Recording Secretary. “The local schools will receive class sets of the history of Washington to use in the study of local history. We are thankful for the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s commitment to helping us preserve our local history.”
