89% Against HST
Hardeman thanks Constituents for sharing their Concerns

Queen’s Park – Today in a statement in the Ontario Legislature, Ernie Hardeman, MPP for Oxford, thanked the constituents who responded to his recent newsletter and brought forward their concerns about the new harmonized sales tax.

“I want to thank all the constituents who responded to my recent newsletter and shared their opinion on a number of important issues, including the HST,” said Ernie Hardeman, Oxford MPP. “Their message was clear – listen to the people and stop the HST.”

During the statement Hardeman read quotes from a number of constituents, including seniors, businessmen and families that opposed the HST.

Over 800 people responded to the newsletter sharing concerns about ehealth, government debt, HST and a variety of other topics. Hardeman pointed out that out of 827 respondents, 733 opposed the HST.
“Mr. Speaker, that means 89% understand the cost that is being imposed on people by the Liberal government,” said Hardeman during the statement. “They want government to be responsible and accountable - to spend more wisely instead of burdening Ontarians with more taxes.”

“The PC Caucus has repeatedly asked the McGuinty government to listen to Ontarians about the impact of the HST,” said Hardeman. “I’m listening to the people of Oxford and their message is clear – No to Dalton McGuinty’s HST tax grab.”
